A lone survivor embarks on a post-apocalyptic quest for revenge in the seventh installment of this gritty zombie-thriller series.

Killing the sadistic warlord known as the Dog Tongue took everything Gus Berry had, including the woman he loved. Now, all he wants is to get away from the bloody scene of their final showdown. But when he heads west in a stolen truck, a brutal snowstorm forces him to turn back—and seek refuge in the Dog Tongue’s former headquarters.

Though it’s littered with human carnage, the abandoned luxury hotel has a lot to offer a guy like Gus. But in addition to soft beds and working toilets, he encounters still-lurking dangers both living and undead. Determined to destroy the Dog Tongue’s followers once and for all, he resolves to follow their ominous trail wherever it may lead . . .

Combining dystopian suspense and zombie-killing action with complex characters and dark humor, Skull Road is the seventh book in Keith C. Blackmore’s thrilling Mountain Man series—perfect for fans of HBO’s The Last of Us

  1. Very excited to a have the latest MM drop into my audiobook library. Have literally been counting down the days after pre-ordering. Trying to listen between tasks been a juggling act but 5 chapters in totally happy to get reacquainted with the legend Gus, he’s troubles and changing adventures.
Totally recommend another volume to what is a fantastic series of books.
Thank you Mr Blackmore for your work.

  2. Great series and fun book. That said, the workout scene is ridiculous. After years of toting heavy gear and firearms everywhere Gus isn’t going to struggle to lift thirty pound dumbbells.

  3. Found the series thanks to R.C. Bray and his amazing narration/voice acting, and I am happy to report this one continues to deliver. I love to combine zombie stories in my head as if they are all in the same universe, just different areas/times. Gus is always a great character, and I always love reading about his adventures and interactions. I am about halfway through, and already wanting more!

  4. I love Gus. I love reading about Gus and listening about Gus but I do hope for Gus’s sake this is the end of his story. Thank you Mr Blackmore and thank you Gus.

  5. Skull Road is a great edition to the legendary story of Gus. If this is the end of Gus’s story, it went out on a high note. Thank you for all the hard work crafting this beautiful world that is alive with great characters and stories. It would be awesome to get more Gus or other side character stories one day. Mountain Man ignited my passion for books. So thank you deeply for that. I look forward to whatever you write next.

  6. Keith- like many fans of the genre… I have become very jaded when it comes to Zombanian stories- mainly because they are pretty much the same.

There is one exception- Gus. He – like you – is like visiting an old friend from high school 🏫.

  7. Just finished Skull Road and it didn’t disappoint absolutely loved it. I’ve been a fan since the first Mountain man book.. Hoping this isn’t the last of Gus.. such a great character a legend of a guy. Gonna have to start them all over again soon.

Thanks for so many hours of great reading Keith.

    1. Glad you liked the book Paul, but I think it is the last for Gus. I like to consider him retired, if possible. What about an Anna Hajeck story? The Frying Pan Lady…?

      1. you know the fans won’t stand for him retiring, right? 😀 This end could be the beginning of an even greater legacy where the risks are even higher, and the rewards are everything

  8. nothing in this series has let me down, including how you finished this. I’ve turned a friend on to the series, and as he’s going through book 1 now, the other 8 have been ordered. i have them all on audible, myself. this has been my favorite story out of anything on tv or written for some time, and likely will be for the forseeable future. i know it’s been a long time since news has come out about production for a movie or series, but I’m still hoping it happens just so more people can know Gus
