The edge of the known world is a place of raw, vibrant beauty—but soon it will become the bloodiest of battlefields—in this thrilling grimdark adventure.
Simmering with the pain of loss, the warrior known as He-Dog and his silent, disfigured companion Chop are the last two survivors of the fallen city of Foust. Pursued by ruthless beastmen, former slaves of the Zuthenian Empire, they fight to stay alive in the unforgiving land of Big Rock. Their only hope: travel across the ocean to the mysterious jungle island of the Sanjou—a place untouched by time—following whispers of an unfathomable treasure. But they are not alone.
Physically and emotionally scarred by recent battles and still mourning the loss of his brother Balless, He-Dog carries a weary determination to survive. Can he and Chop overcome their inner demons and unite against a relentless enemy? In a world ravaged by violence and despair, they will need to become . . . savage.
From the author of the Mountain Man and Breeds series comes the epic second chapter of the adventure that began with White Sands, Red Steel.
Hope you like it….

Keith,
I just want to tell you this was a fantastic read. You should be proud of yourself. It’s a shame grimdark doesn’t sell better.
Thank you for the hours of entertainment.
You finished it? And liked it! Excellent! Please leave a review if you’re so inclined… 🙂
Mr Blackmore I listened to this on audible day one of release I actually had it preordered I’ve gotta say I have listened to most of your work and I love your work beautiful story telling. mm was brilliant and 131 days / troll hunter / he dog. I just can’t get enough of that world I recommend it to anyone who will listen. honestly can’t put your stuff down. keep up the great work and I’m not to sure about how hiring narrators works and if you get to speak with them or not but please let John lee know that I think his performance in the whole of the 131 novels and other stories has been spot on his honestly a goat. he drew me into that world and your words kept me hooked. my thanks and appreciation to you honestly keep it up I will continue to read/ listen to your work good sir
Thank you Robert :)… I haven’t talked to John Lee but I like his work as well and sent along that sentiment in a note through the publishers. If he reads the reviews, he’ll see that folks very much enjoy his work…
I am loving all your books and read all the Mountain series. I hope can get the movie made. I am Almost done with Savage and was looking to see if there was a book2?
I plan on listening to Breeds after this book is done. It’s crazy but I am a 72 year old grandmother and love your writing lol. I am amazed how you come with all the story lines and descriptions. I am truly amazed.
Hi Dinah, “Savage” is actually book 2 of the He-Dog Chronicles. You might take a look at “White Sands, Red Steel” which is book 1. Unknown if there will be a book 3 anytime soon as Savage didn’t really do that well in sales….
Hi Keith
I just finished Savage and thoroughly enjoyed it. It felt like a fantastic next step in the story from White Sands. I very much hope there will be more from this series.
I’m in Scotland and found your work through audible. I’m an avid reader but the audio format is ideal as I do a lot of driving.
So far I’m up to book 4 of MM with the rest bought and waiting for a listen.
Up-to-date with Breeds.
I am very much enjoying your work and will certainly do my part to spread the word in this area.
Keep up the good work 👏🏼
best
Steve
Thank you for taking a chance on the books, Steve. I hope they continue to entertain as you do your work :). Thank you for your note….
