PREORDER Book 7…. MOUNTAIN MAN Book 7: SKULL ROAD

A lone survivor embarks on a post-apocalyptic quest for revenge in the seventh installment of this gritty zombie-thriller series.

Killing the sadistic warlord known as the Dog Tongue took everything Gus Berry had, including the woman he loved. Now, all he wants is to get away from the bloody scene of their final showdown. But when he heads west in a stolen truck, a brutal snowstorm forces him to turn back—and seek refuge in the Dog Tongue’s former headquarters.

Though it’s littered with human carnage, the abandoned luxury hotel has a lot to offer a guy like Gus. But in addition to soft beds and working toilets, he encounters still-lurking dangers both living and undead. Determined to destroy the Dog Tongue’s followers once and for all, he resolves to follow their ominous trail wherever it may lead . . .

Combining dystopian suspense and zombie-killing action with complex characters and dark humor, Skull Road is the seventh book in Keith C. Blackmore’s thrilling Mountain Man series—perfect for fans of HBO’s The Last of Us

  1. Hi Keith. Over the moon to here that number 7 is well on its merry way. For the past 18 months I’ve had long covid and last summer I was stuck in bed. Fortunately I found mountain man, I immediately fell in love with the series and listened to every single one back to back whilst I lay in absolute ruin. Not only did your superb stories get me through the worst days of my life, they actually made them quite enjoyable. I’m fully recovered now and very excited for part 7. Absolutely love Gus and all the other mad folk he meets along the way. Do you have any update on whether or not MM is being adapted for the screen? Cheers mate!

  2. preordered! listening to your series again. i don’t remember if the fate of Anna from the prequel was addressed. Anna was a very interesting character. if her fate was not addressed, do you have any intention of revisiting the Anna character?

    1. I’m leaning towards it more and more. She was supposed to have her own book as a side story, but there didn’t seem to be much interest at the time. Now, I think it’s a question of when….

  3. I’m waiting on book 7. Just finished 6 Mindless. What the hell am I supposed to listen to till August?

  4. A nice surprise, indeed! Preordered. Keith, I appreciate you sharing your time and talents with us! And Gus. And Gus’ antics when he drinks. Thanks again! Mountain Man deserves a film to be sure.

  5. Sweet Seddon above! I miss Halm & Pig Knot & Borchus! And poor Sindra…

I need more Goll & Junger & Brozz.. And Muluk. Can’t forget him!

More Clavellus & Nala! And Machlann… heck the whole household!

More Dark Curge vs Nexus. And Prajus?

I thought I’d be reading a He Dog & crew adventure as a primer, before getting more pit fighting intrigue…

Instead I got kicked in the fruits by that dog blossom mountain man…

Anyway… congrats on MM 7. (No, really!)

Any update on the 131 Days series?

    1. Haha! I see you can speak the language :). Still working on the follow-up to White Sands, Red Steel… .it’s been a grind. A real grind. The schedule, thought backed up, hasn’t changed however, once I’m done with WSRS2, (entitled “savage”) I will move on to book 6 of 131 Days, with an eye on completing it. Hopefully the sales will be there this time (audio has been an improvement) and I can finish the series within 2-3 books. That’s the hope and goal.

      1. Lol, thanks for the response and the update! You’ve created one heck of a fun and interesting world (and vernacular) with the 131 Days series and related books.

I discovered the series browsing through John Lee narrated audio books on Audible. I’m glad I found it, 131 Days is one of my favorites.

        Looking forward to more!

      2. Bless you Keith. I really enjoyed WSRS, glad you’re working on second book to complete the story.

131 days is extremely underated series, and in my opinion it’s your best work.

        1. Hope you like it when it’s finally out there. As soon as I’m done, I’ll be working on the next 131 Days, with an eye on finishing the series. Only hope the sales are there to keep it going until the finish line.

  6. Ive been speNding time workingbupma good time line from the 1st prequel, 2nd Prequel, Hospital, MM1 -MM6
    SPOILERS#^@%@^#&@&@^#^
The 1st prequel starts at the Mart Painting and ends up at the Mountain,2nd one, he is already on the mountain. In the 1st one it goes over briefly the night of, to ending up up there. Later in the MM1 he mentions it was a 6 month period.
I love the WHOLE series, but for me, my favorite parts are the beginning, the looking for food and supplies.
A lot could happen in 6 months, or a lil longer before finding the hide away. what led him to out of the city and to find this place , any chance of a mini book, a prequel to the prequel. Id buy it twice lol. just a thought.
It would be awesome to sit and listen( podcast or live) to your thought process on the series,,Im betting Im not alone and I can NOT wait for the TV series!!

    1. Didn’t I address that (somewhat poorly, I’ll admit) in the second prequel? If not, it’s one that slipped through. The MM prequels were a challenge, ie making sure every little detail presented there lined up with what was established in MM book 1. Not an easy thing to do, and I know some nuggets got through the net. Regardless, glad you liked the stories :).

  7. hi Keith, I really love mountain man series, but still hope 131 days will see another book release.

Is there any chance you’re working on the next 131 days book?

    1. Not right now, sorry… still working on the follow up to “White Sands, Red Steel” which seems to be taking forever….

  8. You state that the book is for all formats. Can I read it on non-kindle devices or is it Kindle-only for the ebook?

    1. Re: all formats–sorry Sjoerd, I meant ebook, paperback, and audio. In ebook, however, it will only be available on Kindle/amazon. It’s the price of being in Amazon’s playground…

      1. Hi Keith,
        Thanks for the quick reply.
I bought everything until part 5 on the Kobo store, but everything is gone now Sadly.
Any chance your books will be available in open formats in the future, like epub, etc?

        1. Not sure. Podium has taken over and I suspect it will be Amazon only, as Amazon holds the bigger market share. I know I tried epub for the longest time, since I know that not everyone likes Amazon, but they never really sold much over there to justify staying there…. Sorry Sjoerd.

      1. I’m going to have to agree with you Keith. Short of sending Gus “South of the Border,” I’m not sure what else can be done with Gus that would build the story. I had listened to Books 1-6 on my own, but then my wife got hooked, so while on a long vacation, I ended up getting her through the 6th, and then we just finished book 7 on Audible, and we both agreed that it was a good point to end at. I mean, we both love the series, but the only way to add is to move elsewhere in the world.
But thank you for creating a great story line and a solid ending.
